The pieces on this page are composed of images of scenarios staged for the camera using actors. They explore contradictory motivations in troubled relationships between gay men, relationships in which extreme emotions and sexual urges override rationality and self-control. Non-linear narrative and compositional structures provide a more complex and “true” description of the interaction. The scenes were photographed with conventional film, and the resulting images were then digitally manipulated and combined. The final works are output as direct digital prints (digital C or inkjet), or as digitally-recorded, large-format transparencies from which conventional photo prints are made.
